A giant THANK YOU to everyone!

Before we get too busy with setting everything up and celebrating Cheverly Day with you, we want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone who helps us. We have tried to remember everyone here, but we're sure we've missed a few. If we have, please accept our apologies and know that we thank you in our hearts!

We do thank all of you -- our sponsors, advertisers, community groups, volunteers, musicians, vendors, logistical personnel, the Mayor and Town Council, Cheverly Department of Public Works and the Cheverly Police Department -- Cheverly truly is More Than the Sum of Its Parts thanks to you. At CHVProm on Friday night and at Cheverly Day on Saturday, please join us in thanking all these wonderful people and organizations!

The FULL Schedule is here!

And don't forget, take our Cheverly Day Shuttle and leave your car at home! Many thanks to Dimensions Healthcare System and Pepco for sponsoring our shuttles.

Cheverly Boys & Girls Club Ping Pong Ball Adventure Flume

Cheverly Day Starts Off Right at Cheverly Community Market

For the second year in a row, we are proud to begin Cheverly Day at Cheverly Community Market! And this year, Cheverly Day marks the opening of the Market season. Since 2008, Cheverly Community Market has been an integral part of our community, offering the best in fresh, local produce, meats, seafood, breads, wines, and more.
Join your friends and neighbors at the Market from 8am to noon this Saturday. The first 31 visitors to the Market tent will receive a free Cheverly Community Market reusable tote bag, ideal for filling with tasty Market treats to enjoy all week. Say hello to longtime favorite vendors and meet some newfound treasures this Saturday, and kick off your Cheverly Day by celebrating local food!

A Great Start to Cheverly Day: Boys & Girls Club T-Ball

Start your Cheverly Day off by supporting our Cheverly Boys & Girls Club T-Ball kids! This Saturday, there are two games that will be played on the Town Park Field at 10am, just before the Annual East-West Softball Game gets going.  Our recommendation? Start your morning at Cheverly Community Market in the upper parking lot -- they open at 8am. Do your shopping, grab a pastry and some coffee, then make your way down the fields to cheer on your Cheverly Boys & Girls Club T-Ball teams!

Cheverly Day is just ONE WEEK from today!

Cheverly Day 2014 is just ONE week from today! We’re looking forward to a full day of great activities and entertainment, and we’re eager to share the day with you. Bring your friends, your family, and your neighbors to Town Park on Saturday, May 31, for a celebration of Cheverly Day: More than the Sum of its Parts! Get the full schedule here.

Start off your Cheverly Day experience at Cheverly Community Market – May 31 also marks the opening of their 2014 season, which runs every other week, 8am to noon, in the Community Center Parking Lot. You’ll find terrific fresh, local foods that will get you ready for a full day of celebrating and for the week ahead. Visit www.cheverlycommunitymarket.com for more information.

From 10am until 5pm, we encourage you to take the Cheverly Day Shuttle, sponsored by Dimensions Healthcare System. The shuttle will stop at locations throughout town – see our website for details.

In the 11am hour, we greet some fierce competitors: the Annual East vs. West Softball Tourney, sponsored by Foulger-Pratt, begins practice at 11am on the Baseball Field for the noon game, and the Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tourney gets going in the Community Center Gym.

All that competition is sure to make you work up an appetite! Visit our food vendors – Good Times Catering, Chef Neil’s Wraps, Jamaican Gourmet, LoBu Natural Beverages, Simple Pleasures Ice Cream, and Funnel Cakes. And what would Cheverly Day be without our beloved St. Ambrose Men’s Club Beer Garden? We have your favorite dining options from years past and some amazing new finds this year – truly something for every taste!

At 1pm, Cheverly Day games get going – and this year, we are covering the whole park! The Midway, sponsored by Cheverly West, fills the tennis courts with moon bounces, ride-ons, and classic carnival games. While you’re at the ticket tent, make sure to pick up your 2014 Cheverly Day t-shirt, and take a look at our “vintage” offerings, too! Make your way to the basketball court for our Cheverly Day Miniature Golf Invitational, and to the grassy, tree-filled area outside of the tennis courts for the Ping Pong Adventure Flume and Laser Tag, Visit the lower parking lot for three tournaments:  Corn Hole, Foosball, and the Marshmallow Long Drive.

We welcome our Community Groups, Organizations and Politicians at 1pm – the tables on the greenways in front of the Community Center will be filled with activities and lots of information. And 1pm marks the opening of the Honey Bees and Birds of Prey/Reptiles exhibit. Make sure to stop by and meet these great members of our community – you’re sure to learn something new!

At 2pm, get ready for the First Annual Cheverly Day Bike Rodeo in the upper parking lot! Kids can demonstrate their safe riding skills on a special obstacle course and everyone is welcome to donate used bikes.

Our stage opens at 3:30pm, with FREE music from some of the very best performers the DC region has to offer: Elements of Cosine, Nasar Abadey + Supernova, The Alfredo Mojica Quintet, Pan Masters, and In Da’ Cut featuring Ishan Bila. We are grateful to Joseph Smith & Sons/JSS Metals for sponsoring the Cheverly Day Stage this year. Make sure to visit our website for the complete entertainment schedule.

After the sun goes down, the day concludes with the Mayor’s Awards, the National Anthem performed by Renee Johnson, and FIREWORKS!

This year, Cheverly Day really is More than the Sum of its Parts. And we’re looking forward to sharing all those parts with you! Visit our website, this blog, and Facebook throughout the week – we’ll be adding new information to get you ready for the big day. And follow us on Twitter – use the hashtag #CheverlyDay to share your Cheverly Day experiences.

Cheverly Day 2014 is made possible with generous contributions from many individuals, as well as Dimensions Healthcare System, Joseph Smith & Sons/JSS Metals, Foulger-Pratt, Pepco, and Cheverly West. Thank you for your support.

Got an old bike taking up space in your basement, garage, or shed? Bring it to the bike drive! Donate your old/broken bikes – the Scouts are collecting for the Washington, DC “Gear-Up” program, which teaches bicycle maintenance and safety to inner city kids.
