First News About Our 2nd Annual Cheverly Day Photo Contest

Remember last year’s Wild Cheverly photo contest? We had so much fun doing the contest last year that we are doing a repeat performance for Cheverly Day 2016. The Cheverly Green Infrastructure Committee invites you to use your camera and your creativity to celebrate the richness of Cheverly’s natural areas and help inspire their protection and conservation.
This year there the emphasis will be on trees. Think about how you would portray our native trees in photos -- from closeups of bark, leaves, fruits and nuts, to interactions of trees and insects, to forest treescapes … it’s up to you.

• Take a walk in any of Cheverly’s natural areas or even in your own back yard.

• Take photos of the nature you see around you.
Native Flora: Trees, shrubs, vines, fungi, lichens, mosses, etc. Please focus on our natives.
Fauna, microscopic to mega: Birds, mammals, insects, in their natural habitats (No pets, please)
Landscapes: Vistas, streams, rocks, soil
Photos will be judged on composition, technical excellence, and subject: How well does the photo tell a visual story about the natural world of Cheverly? The contest judges will as before include Mayor Callahan. Watch for the contest rules and tips when they are posted on the Green Cheverly website, or on our website. For more information, contact the photo contest organizer, Dave Kneipp.

Know someone who should enter? Share our flyer with them! This should be a weekend full of interesting weather...and terrific opportunities to capture great photos!
