Food at Cheverly Day 2014

We have a great lineup of classic festival food at Cheverly Day 2014! Burgers, half smokes, pit BBQ, funnel cakes, ice cream, fresh lemonade and beer... Bring your appetite on May 31!

The smell of the pit beef smoke wafting over the crowds at Cheverly Day...fresh, tart lemonade, crunchy, hot fries, juicy burgers, the joy of a kid sampling their first cotton candy...

This is classic festival and fair food, and we're very happy to have Good Times Catering with us again this year!

Simple Pleasures Ice Cafe handcrafts luscious ice creams that the Russells make in the traditional European way, using the very best ingredients. Simple Pleasures uses fresh ice cream, sherbets and sugar-free ice cream in such flavors as flavors as Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Cookies-n-Cream, Butter Pecan, Mint Chocolate Chip, Coffee, Butter Brickle, Lemon Custard, Dulce de Leche, Tiramisu, Banana Pudding, and Chocolate Brownie Points. Italian Ice flavors include Cherry, Lemon, Pina Colada, Mango, and Blue Raspberry. Sugar-Free flavors include: Vanilla, Chocolate, and Butter Pecan. The Russells have been been part of Cheverly Community Market for many years, and we're thrilled to have this incredible locally made ice cream at Cheverly Day 2014.

Funnel Cakes are back! There is no way funnel cakes should taste as good as they do. A flavorless batter poured into hot oil? Meh. But theres this amazing alchemy that happens when confectioners sugar hits that hot, crunchy, squiggly circle or fried dough -- its magic, a thing that many childhood memories are made of. We can't really explain it, but we certainly do enjoy it (and, judging by the long lines that usually accompany the funnel cake tent, so do you)!

When we ask people about their favorite aspects of Cheverly Day, a few things pop up over and over. One of those things is today's focus: the Beer Garden. Hosted by the St. Ambrose Catholic Church Men's Club, the Beer Garden is a longstanding tradition that only seems to improve with age. The beer truck -- full of ice cold beer -- anchors a corner of the lower parking lot cordoned off with orange plastic fencing. The long tables are the site of many conversations with groups of friends and neighbors catching up throughout the day, and a favorite vantage point for the fireworks at night. In addition to beer, the Beer Garden offers root beer for the kids and free peanuts...we've enjoyed many hours cracking peanut shells and catching up with people we somehow only manage to see once a year at, you guessed it, the Beer Garden.

Thank you to ALL of great food vendors for their contributions to the delights of Cheverly Day! Interested in becoming a food vendor at Cheverly Day 2014? There's still time! Please email us: food@cheverlyday.org.
