Cheverly Day is just ONE WEEK from today!

Cheverly Day 2014 is just ONE week from today! We’re looking forward to a full day of great activities and entertainment, and we’re eager to share the day with you. Bring your friends, your family, and your neighbors to Town Park on Saturday, May 31, for a celebration of Cheverly Day: More than the Sum of its Parts! Get the full schedule here.

Start off your Cheverly Day experience at Cheverly Community Market – May 31 also marks the opening of their 2014 season, which runs every other week, 8am to noon, in the Community Center Parking Lot. You’ll find terrific fresh, local foods that will get you ready for a full day of celebrating and for the week ahead. Visit www.cheverlycommunitymarket.com for more information.

From 10am until 5pm, we encourage you to take the Cheverly Day Shuttle, sponsored by Dimensions Healthcare System. The shuttle will stop at locations throughout town – see our website for details.

In the 11am hour, we greet some fierce competitors: the Annual East vs. West Softball Tourney, sponsored by Foulger-Pratt, begins practice at 11am on the Baseball Field for the noon game, and the Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tourney gets going in the Community Center Gym.

All that competition is sure to make you work up an appetite! Visit our food vendors – Good Times Catering, Chef Neil’s Wraps, Jamaican Gourmet, LoBu Natural Beverages, Simple Pleasures Ice Cream, and Funnel Cakes. And what would Cheverly Day be without our beloved St. Ambrose Men’s Club Beer Garden? We have your favorite dining options from years past and some amazing new finds this year – truly something for every taste!

At 1pm, Cheverly Day games get going – and this year, we are covering the whole park! The Midway, sponsored by Cheverly West, fills the tennis courts with moon bounces, ride-ons, and classic carnival games. While you’re at the ticket tent, make sure to pick up your 2014 Cheverly Day t-shirt, and take a look at our “vintage” offerings, too! Make your way to the basketball court for our Cheverly Day Miniature Golf Invitational, and to the grassy, tree-filled area outside of the tennis courts for the Ping Pong Adventure Flume and Laser Tag, Visit the lower parking lot for three tournaments:  Corn Hole, Foosball, and the Marshmallow Long Drive.

We welcome our Community Groups, Organizations and Politicians at 1pm – the tables on the greenways in front of the Community Center will be filled with activities and lots of information. And 1pm marks the opening of the Honey Bees and Birds of Prey/Reptiles exhibit. Make sure to stop by and meet these great members of our community – you’re sure to learn something new!

At 2pm, get ready for the First Annual Cheverly Day Bike Rodeo in the upper parking lot! Kids can demonstrate their safe riding skills on a special obstacle course and everyone is welcome to donate used bikes.

Our stage opens at 3:30pm, with FREE music from some of the very best performers the DC region has to offer: Elements of Cosine, Nasar Abadey + Supernova, The Alfredo Mojica Quintet, Pan Masters, and In Da’ Cut featuring Ishan Bila. We are grateful to Joseph Smith & Sons/JSS Metals for sponsoring the Cheverly Day Stage this year. Make sure to visit our website for the complete entertainment schedule.

After the sun goes down, the day concludes with the Mayor’s Awards, the National Anthem performed by Renee Johnson, and FIREWORKS!

This year, Cheverly Day really is More than the Sum of its Parts. And we’re looking forward to sharing all those parts with you! Visit our website, this blog, and Facebook throughout the week – we’ll be adding new information to get you ready for the big day. And follow us on Twitter – use the hashtag #CheverlyDay to share your Cheverly Day experiences.

Cheverly Day 2014 is made possible with generous contributions from many individuals, as well as Dimensions Healthcare System, Joseph Smith & Sons/JSS Metals, Foulger-Pratt, Pepco, and Cheverly West. Thank you for your support.

We'll see YOU on Cheverly Day!
