Coming to Cheverly Day 2016: The World We Want

We are THRILLED to announce a very special addition to Cheverly Day 2016...The World We Want Project!

The World We Want is a global community art installation that is opening the conversation in communities across the planet about the world we all want to live in and what we need to do to get us there. The large black wall will consist of multiple squares that prompt the public to write on them with chalk – what world they want to live in, and how they will create this world. Led Cheverly's very own Nicole Garder, this is a great follow-up to our yarn bomb garden installation from last year, and another great way to celebrate creativity and community.  Incidentally, Nicole is also a new Cheverly Day Committee member! Want to bring your ideas to Cheverly Day? Join us!

Over the past few years, we've enjoyed dunking the Mayor, several Council members, the odd teen and tween, and heads of quite a few Cheverly community groups. We're asking you this this: who would YOU like to see in the tank? Let us know, and we'll do everything we can to make your dreams come true!

It’s coming! It’s coming! Cheverly Day 2016 is on the horizon!

We have a lot to celebrate on May 21 – the 85^th anniversary of the town we call home, the new stage at Town Park, the beginning of fun summer activities, and the wonderful friends and neighbors that make Cheverly great. Join us and celebrate Cheverly…It’s Where You Want to Be!

For the first time this year, you can make a tax-deductible donation to Cheverly Day. Your donation makes a real difference in defraying the costs of bringing this major community event to life every year. To celebrate, we’ll thank our neighbor donors with a personalized message on our website and blog. For a donation of just $10, we’ll post your one-sentence message (non-commercial/non-political, please) on our website and social media. See our website for details and guidelines, and get your message in today! We’re also looking for corporate sponsors, community donations, and advertisers – all are much needed to sustain the great activities that await you at Cheverly Day. Community groups receive a 50% discount on advertising, so it’s a great way to reach the whole town with your news and attract new members. Join in our parade – we want your floats, your marchers, your musicians…let’s make this year’s parade the biggest and best yet. Are you a member of a community group? A marching band? A theatrical troupe? We want YOU! The parade application is available on our website, so get your marching shoes polished, your costumes sewn, and your floats ready to go!

We need volunteers to plan and carry out the many tasks that make up the big event. Have ideas for new activities? Want to help us with community groups, musicians, food, publicity, or any other aspect? Join the Cheverly Day Committee – we meet monthly and we’re always looking for fresh ideas.
